DAY 49

is it over yet

Well then, that went well.
(reader, it did not go well)

As I’m writing this I’m wondering if the word ‘zoom’ will ever slope back to the world of photography or cartoon cars, tail between its digital legs; nobody using it because we have no need of a shorthand anymore. Will that happen? It feels...good to wonder about something else. Which was the point of the zOOM! DrinKS N Chaaat & QUIZ! @7pm with the gaaang!

I watch them on the screen, six little boxes stacked up. I see their mouths moving, the drag and trace of backgrounds, filters. Sometimes I mute. Sometimes I hide.

I want to see them. I do. So much. I want to talk with them. But I can’t bear the tight space around their faces, the colours of their lives - bright, unyielding, stuffed with normal chaos - not yet. Not yet. I beat myself up over this because I know they love me. I know they care. I know they loved her. But I can’t...not yet...I can’t let them share her yet. Not yet.

Is this selfish of me?

She’s made up of a hundred million pixels. And this will never ever be enough.
